Required Information to Gain Access
There are two levels of access to the Online Application:
- Limited access
- Full access
What does "Limited Access" mean?
If you have limited access to the Online Application, it means that you are able to:
- apply online for full-time post-secondary funding
- continue to complete an online work-in-progress application
You can only gain limited access if you have no history (you have never previously applied for or received student funding) with the Students Finance system and provide the following personal information:
- name (first and last) - current full legal name
- date of birth
- Alberta Student Number
- Social Insurance Number
- gender
What does "Full Access" mean?
If you have full access to the Online Application, it means that you are able to:
- apply online for full-time post-secondary funding
- continue to complete an online work-in-progress application
- inquire online about a previously submitted application
If you have history (you have previously applied for or received student funding) with the Students Finance system, you must use one of the full access options to gain access. To gain full access you must provide the following personal information plus the information listed under one of the two options:
- name (first and last) - current full legal name
- date of birth
- Alberta Student Number
- Social Insurance Number
- gender
- option 1: Cashed Loan Certificate Information from a loan issued by Alberta since 1999:
- cashed full-time student loan certificate number
- cashed full-time loan disbursement amount
- option 2: Alberta high school information:
- city where you attended high school
- name of high school attended
- names of two (2) high school diploma exam courses and final mark for each course

The Students Finance system supports the following programs:
- Full-time post-secondary
- Part-time post-secondary
- Alberta Scholarships
- Alberta Works
Security processes are in place for the Online Application to ensure that your personal information is protected. These processes are based on Alberta Government standards.
As one of the security processes, the Alberta government must authenticate your identity. |
