Two Sources of Loans
Sources of Student Loans in Alberta
There are two sources of loans for Alberta students; the provincial and/or federal government.

The Government of Alberta provides Alberta Student Loans through EDULINX.
- The "lender" or "service provider" for Alberta Student Loans is EDULINX.
|
 |
The Government of Canada provides Canada Student Loans through the National Student Loans Service Centre.
- The "lender" or "service provider" for Canada Student Loans is the National Student Loans Service Centre.

You only need to apply on one application, the Alberta Application for Financial Assistance, when applying for student funding. If you are eligible, you may receive both Alberta and Canada student funding; the decision is automatically made for you from the one application. However, when it comes time to pay back your loans, you may have to make separate payments to EDULINX and/or the National Student Loans Service Centre.
Before you apply, find out how student loans work at the new and improved Entrance Counselling session on the EDULINX website.
You can apply online for a student loan.
